Channel Islands Switchover News October 2010

It is now exactly one month to go before the switchover to digital television in the Channel Islands (17 November 2010).

Viewers in Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney can find out more as the switchover roadshow begins its tour of the Channel Islands, offering practical advice on how to get set for digital.

Visitors will have the opportunity to:

  • Find out when switchover is happening and the options for going digital.
  • Learn how eligible people can get one TV converted to digital by the Switchover Help Scheme.
  • See technical demonstrations (e.g. how to retune a box) and put questions to Digital UK's specially trained advisors.

Maggie Philbin urges viewers to lend a helping hand
Former Tomorrow's World presenter Maggie Philbin and switchover mascot Digit Al joined forces in Jersey and Guernsey to launch the Switchover Help Scheme's Helping Hand campaign. The Fremont Point transmitter group, serving the Channel Islands switches to digital on 17 November 2010. Helping Hand urges everyone to make sure older and disabled people in their area know about the practical help they can get from the Help Scheme to switch to digital TV.
