Death of Sir Norman Browse

Statement from William Tate, President of the States of Alderney.


The States of Alderney and the entire community are profoundly saddened by the news of the death of Sir Norman Browse F.R.C.S. F.R.C.P. F.K.C.

Sir Norman was elected to the Presidency of the States of Alderney from January 2002 until June 2011, a term of almost 10 years.

Prior to retiring to the Island Sir Norman served as the President of the Royal College of Surgeons, having had a successful professional career as Professor of Surgery at St. Thomas's Hospital, London, between 1965 and 1996. He was in addition a Consultant Vascular Surgeon and the author of a number of medical textbooks, covering a wide range of medical subjects.

His loss will be deeply felt by the community who have lost a committed public servant.
