Press Release - Airport Team Addition 22.11.2021

Alderney Airport aims to strengthen airside operations

Alderney Airport needs a new team player to strengthen its airfield and fire service operations.

The States of Guernsey, which operates the airport, is advertising the new position of Airfield Operations Officer.

The successful applicant will report to Head of Airside Operations Dan Townsend and will be responsible for a range of duties including runway inspections, wildlife monitoring, airside safety and regulations audits.

The island attracts professionals from overseas but Mr Townsend is hoping to unearth local talent for the key role.

"Alderney is an amazing place to live and work and it is home to many skilled people," he said. "So it may be the right person already lives here but we know there will be plenty of overseas applicants.

"We have an excellent team spirit at the airport and now with passenger numbers and aircraft movements gradually getting back to pre-pandemic levels, we want to make sure the team is fully complemented."

Critically, applicants need to demonstrate communication and administrative skills, good judgement under pressure and an understanding of airside activities, risks and regulation.

Application deadline is November 29th. Full details can be found at
