2006 - 150th Anniversary of the Introduction of the Victoria Cross

The States of Alderney have issued commemorative coins in order to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Introduction of the first Victoria Cross Medal. The issue forms part of an 18 coin collection for the Channel Islands, with 6 designs being issued by Alderney. Designs for Alderney are: Charles Lucas; Henry Ramage; Ernest Alvia Smith; Stanley Hollis; Geoffrey Keyes and Daniel Laidlow. All coins are available as a £5 silver frosted proof with a further £5 Cupro-Nickel coin being issued in the Henry Ramage design only. All designs were by Michael Hibbit. The obverse of the coins show the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.
