2001 - Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II - 75th Birthday

75 years ago, on 21 April 1926, Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born. Today, as Queen, she presides over a hugely different nation from the one she was born into that spring day in 1926. Obverse: The obverse of the coin shows Raphael Maklouf's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Reverse: The design by David Cornell depicts the Queen in informal attire, framed by detailed engravings of a selection of flowers representing the four constituent parts of the United Kingdom, namely the rose, the thistle, the daffodil and the pimpernel.
