2003 - Concorde - the Final Flight
The States of Alderney has released coins to commemorate the final transatlantic flight of Concorde made on 24 October 2003. For three decades the supersonic aircraft has fascinated people around the world, and it was a sad day when British Airways and Air France announced that she would be permanently grounded from autumn 2003, bringing to an end a significant chapter of the history of aviation. Obverse: The coin depicts an image of Concorde in flight, superimposed upon an interpretation of the aircraft` undercarriage. Coins are available as £5 in Cupro-Nickel and Silver.
