2007- Diana - The Legacy of a Unique Woman

Affectionately known as `The People's Princess`, Diana, Princess of Wales worked tirelessly throughout her all too brief life for many worthy causes. Her unfaltering kindness and compassion to those around her, particularly the sick, the young and those in need, placed her firmly in the nation` heart. As a lasting testament to this unique woman, the States of Alderney, in conjunction with the Royal Mint, has issued a beautiful selection of Gold, Silver and Cupro-Nickel Coins featuring two stunning designs of the Princess by the artist Danuta Solowiej- Weddurburn.

Diana helped raise vital funds for more than 100 charities, many of which were for the benefit of the world` children. This highly emotive design shows Diana at her best. The Princess is shown looking down at a small child in her arms with a clear look of compassion and understanding in her eyes. The coins have been issued as a £5 coin in Gold, Sterling Silver and Cupro-Nickel, with a further £10 Sterling Silver coin also being issued.

This exquisite design bears a portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales. Struck in .999 fine gold to stunning Proof quality this design is unique to the £1 gold proof coin. The obverse of the coins will depict a portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, by Ian Rank- Broadley FRBS, surrounded by the inscription Elizabeth II Alderney.
