2008 - WWI: The 90th Anniversary Alderney £5 Gold Proof Three-Coin Collection
This year sees the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War, which is likely to be the last major anniversary to be witnessed by those who fought so bravely between 1914 and 1918. To commemorate this historic milestone, the Royal Mint has produced three 22 carat gold coins for the issuing authority of Alderney, presented in one case as a three-coin set.The reverses of the three coins have been designed by The Royal Mint Engraving Team, drawing inspiration from the art and literature of those who experienced the war first hand and from their own visit to the battlefields of France and Belgium.
