Item l Commercial Quay
The States resolved to approve expenditure of up to £9.5 million for the proposed renovation of the Commercial Quay, incorporating a concrete blockwork wall on encased steel columns embedded on the seabed as was shown in the drawing entitled "Commercial Quay Renovation" and numbered 0729-01-101. Proposed by Mr Walden and seconded by Mr Pengilley.
(Approved unanimously.)
Item Questions and Reports
A question regarding the alternative solution to Alderney"s waste disposal was asked by Mr Cox of the Chairman of the General Services Committee. The President expressed his congratulations and compliments, on behalf of the States, to those crew members of the RNLI who had received the highly respected award "Thanks of the Institute of Vellum" and Vellum Service Certificates.
The President reported that there were four candidates standing for the by-election on Saturday 1st December 2007. A hustings would be held in the Anne French Room at 7pm on Monday 26th November.
