(Traffic Regulations 1986, as amended, (regs. 7(1), 7(3) and 11))

For the purposes of regulations 7(1) (vehicles weighing more than ten tons laden), 7(3) (vehicles of a length greater than 30"0" or width greater than 7"6") and 11 (tracked vehicles) of the Traffic Regulations 1986, as amended, permission is given by the General Services Committee for all vehicles both in and registered in Alderney as of 12 June 2008 to be used on any public highway in Alderney (other than in Victoria Street or High Street). This permission may be amended or revoked by the Committee at any time but will otherwise remain in effect for 12 months from the date hereof.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This General Permit replaces that issued on 12 June 2008 and only applies to vehicles in and registered in Alderney at that time. It may be amended or revoked at any time and will be revoked if and when it is decided to grant or refuse a permit in respect of each such individual vehicle.

The above Regulations prohibit the use on any public highway of any vehicle weighing more than 10 tons, any vehicle of a length greater than 30"0" or width greater than 7"6" and any tracked vehicle except in accordance with the terms of a permit in writing from the Committee

This general permit is granted only for purposes of regulations 7(1), 7(3) and 11 of the Traffic Regulations 1986, as amended. It does NOT absolve any person from compliance with any other legal requirement (such as to the condition, weight distribution, packing and adjustment of any load, excessive noise or fumes, lighting, etc.) applying to any vehicle or the use thereof. This permit does NOT cover any vehicle that was not in and registered in Alderney on 12 June 2008.
