THE ALDERNEY WATER (RESTRICTIONS) ORDINANCES 1976 AND 1992

The General Services Committee acting as the States Water Board ("the Board"), in pursuance of the powers vested in the Board by the provisions of the above Ordinances, hereby gives notice that with effect from 7 days after the date of this notice (until which time the notice dated 26th March 2006 remains in effect) and until further notice no person shall use water supplied by the Board for any of the following purposes:-
  • I. Cleaning any vehicle, aircraft or boat;
  • II. Watering any flower garden or lawn;
  • III. Watering any vegetable garden in which vegetables are grown otherwise than for the purpose of sale;
  • IV. For any purpose relating to the enjoyment of a dwelling house as such by the use of a hose, sprinkler or other similar apparatus;
  • V. For the purposes of filling or replenishing any swimming pool;
  • VI. For the purposes of an automatic car wash;
  • VII. For the purposes of cleaning any premises by a high pressure jet or other similar means;
  • VIII. For the purposes of cleaning a glasshouse;
  • IX. For the purpose of filling or replenishing any garden pond or water feature;
  • X. For the purpose of filling or replenishing any spa pool or Jacuzzi.

Save that the restrictions set out in I - III, inclusive, shall not apply so long as no use is made of a hose, sprinkler or other similar apparatus.

Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with any provision of this notice shall be guilty of an offence and liable, on conviction, in the case of a first offence to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the Alderney uniform scale and in the case of a second or subsequent offence to a fine not exceeding level 4 thereof.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This notice replaces that dated 26th March 2006. Water supplied by the Board may now be used for those purposes set out in I - III, inclusive, provided that the means used is not a hose, sprinkler or other similar apparatus.
